Summer days reflections

Summers are usually very busy for us. And even though it is a season we wait for with a lot of enthusiasm and many plans and goals to accomplish, truth is we sometimes struggle trying to balance all the things we have in our plates during all those Twelvish weeks.

All schedules change because there is not a school routine and a whole new agenda takes place. Each day is different. My hours at work change as I navigate between summer school, summer camp and fun "summery" activities related to the weather that we don't want to miss. Being outside that's the motto, right? but living the busy lives we live nowadays, being out and making summer super fun for our kids, takes planning.

This takes me to my own childhood and how different parenting was at that time. (A thought for another post, maybe).

We are entering our 4th week of summer break. Seven more to go. We are having a lot of fun trying to take advantage of fairs and carnivals, summer festivals, the lake, summer school, swimming camp, biking and being out, just being out, always aware that when that first chilly breeze hits town, that's it, get your coat.

We have planned two -out of town trips- to places we have never visited before, so we will report back on how that was.

Have a safe and very healthy summer everyone.

Kindergarten

It seems we have finally found a school we really like for D. to start elementary school next fall. I know, it seems so early to start the process, but in order to pick the school we really wanted we needed to start this early. What a relief. What a big relief. We toured at least 10 schools in the last 2 months. In our district, out of our district, public schools and private schools, charter schools and whatever's left in the middle, and somehow there was always something that didn't click to me when touring all those schools. All of them -btw- with very high scores and super nice reviews, but still, there was something that didn't convince me. It happened the same to me when I was looking for preschools for D. two years ago. I visited many, until I went to one that felt right to me instantly, it felt right in my heart. And that was how I felt yesterday morning when we visited the very last school in our list to tour, it felt right. I liked the school, thank God, I liked

Copenhagen

I've had this city in my mind for a while. Never been there, but every time I research about trips to Europe I bump into a Copenhagen article, link, photo and I get more and more interested and excited about this city. In pictures it just looks like the kind of city I like. Here my inspiration for today Friday, a few photos of gorgeous Copenhagen. All photos by: littlescandinavian.com  (one of my favorite blogs). Happy weekend. Healthy and peaceful.
