Happy winter solstice

What is it about snow that makes my heart so content? It is the sound I hear while snow is falling. It is the overwhelming magic I experience with every unique snowflake. It is nature showing us its beauty that surprises me every time. Happy winter solstice. Good health and peace to all.

5 days 'till Christmas

And I don't want to forget what Christmas is all about. Because it is easy to forget. My five year old said to me yesterday on our way home from school: "Mama, we've been talking about Christmas at school. And Christmas is about giving and sharing, not about presents, and it is a celebration of baby Jesus." Let's not forget that. I wish you a healthy, peaceful and blessed Christmas.

My winter list

I usually make a list for myself of things to do during the spring and the summer with Diego, it helps me to be aware that time flies and I don’t want my little one to miss the warm days outside. I put everything we would like to do on a list right at the beginning of the season and then we do as many things as we can. This year I have decided to do the same with the winter. I don’t want our family to miss the very fun things there are out there to enjoy. So here my list of things –very fun things- to do in Madison while is cold and dark white outside. 1. Christmas Tree at the Capitol.  Our beautiful Capitol building is the home of a huge, beautiful Christmas tree. We just go, walk around a little, take some pictures and have hot chocolate across street. Simple but D. enjoys it very much. 3. Holiday Fantasy in lights. I'm not kidding if I

Judging a parent

What a nerve, isn't it? Since the day my son was born I have felt that whoever judges a parent is either very mean, very angry at -someone or something- or very stupid (pardon my French). When you judge a parent -a loving and responsible one that is- you are showing the world, for sure, either a lack of kindness and compassion, an unnecessary dose of arrogance or a very weak character (and all of the above too). I'm sorry, but it is another level of stupidity and insensibility. A parent -again, a responsible one- is by definition someone who works their butt off to raise a child the best way they can. The energy, the love, the devotion, the time and the passion a parent puts on a daily basis,  24/7  into their kids upbringing is out of this world, it can't be explained, it can't be measured, it can't be imagined. Let's not even mention all those concerns, doubts and guilt parents face about so many issues that affect their kids lives. Unless you have a kid, you
