The long weekend in Minneapolis

Having in mind that there are only 12 weeks of summer break helps to just hop into a car and start exploring, and that's the reason why we've been trying to visit a few spots around Wisconsin and adjacent areas, because at this point there are only 7 weeks left and we want to make sure that we were out a lot during the summer . We also want to take advantage of the fact that we can drive for only a few hours and be in a very different landscape and totally different vibes. We moved 4 years ago to Madison and this long (past) weekend for the very first time we visited Minneapolis. The drive is very pretty, especially after you hit Eau Claire-WI going north and once you get to Minneapolis it gets even prettier, of course if you like the big city life.
There is a part of Minneapolis that reminded me of Portland - OR, so that brought very sweet memories. As we had expected, many things to do, lots of museums, nice old and new architecture, many parks and very green. I really liked Minneapolis. The question: Do I miss big cities? always pops up in my mind, every single time we visit one, simply because I believe both my husband and I are not only wired to like them, but also because we have spent the majority of our lives in big cities.
Nothing to complain about Madison, we love this city, especially our little D. does, but still the question pops sometimes.

Some pictures to share which all are dedicated to my high-school friend Adriana Saturno, who Im sure has fond memories of Minneapolis and the time she spent there with her beautiful family.

Kindergarten

It seems we have finally found a school we really like for D. to start elementary school next fall. I know, it seems so early to start the process, but in order to pick the school we really wanted we needed to start this early. What a relief. What a big relief. We toured at least 10 schools in the last 2 months. In our district, out of our district, public schools and private schools, charter schools and whatever's left in the middle, and somehow there was always something that didn't click to me when touring all those schools. All of them -btw- with very high scores and super nice reviews, but still, there was something that didn't convince me. It happened the same to me when I was looking for preschools for D. two years ago. I visited many, until I went to one that felt right to me instantly, it felt right in my heart. And that was how I felt yesterday morning when we visited the very last school in our list to tour, it felt right. I liked the school, thank God, I liked

Copenhagen

I've had this city in my mind for a while. Never been there, but every time I research about trips to Europe I bump into a Copenhagen article, link, photo and I get more and more interested and excited about this city. In pictures it just looks like the kind of city I like. Here my inspiration for today Friday, a few photos of gorgeous Copenhagen. All photos by: littlescandinavian.com  (one of my favorite blogs). Happy weekend. Healthy and peaceful.
