Have you ever had the chance to stand next to a giant Sequoia? It is such an overwhelming experience. There, huge, strong, old, wise those trees stand with such pride yet so gentle and humble. When you get close to them it is almost like they want to hug you or give you their best smile. You feel loved, somehow protected. And they know stuff, and they have seen and heard so much. And they are so humble.
I was thinking about my dad this morning, I think often about him, he doesn't know this, I haven't told him, but I think a lot about my old man. He is like a giant Sequoia. Huge, even though he is not big, wise, even though he is the simplest person I know.
My husband asked me a few years ago, Who is the happiest person you know? My dad, I said. He is like a Sequoia.
