The House on the Rock

Our visit to the House on the Rock was for sure overdue. I kept hearing about it and we finally planned our visit. I read some reviews before planning our day trip; some were good, some were not. To me, the house was a little bit of a mixed experience. Fantastic in the outside, beautiful and peaceful gardens around the whole structure and a little (maybe a lot) weird and intricate in the inside. It almost felt a little bit claustrophobic. What a complex piece of architecture, though. There is also a very interesting story behind the design and construction of the house that involves its own architect Alex Jordan, Jr. and famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright but the legitimacy of the story is questioned. Fun story to read. If you are in Wisconsin and close to Spring Green, stop by and judge yourself how you feel about this place. These are some pictures of our day trip.

The Midwest

I’ve mentioned several times on this same blog that in my opinion, The Midwest does not get the respect and love it surely deserves. You hear a lot about the East and West coasts but not much about the middle of the country. The center, the heartland of America. And I gotta say, the whole area has many fantastic spots to offer. We went on a road trip last week from Wisconsin to Iowa and then south to Missouri and Kansas. Loved every piece of it. Beautiful roads. Nice people. Great food. Cool spots all over. I lived 10 years between both California and Oregon and I treasure in my heart the best memories from both places but there is an easiness and a kindness about the Midwest that at this point in my life I really enjoy and appreciate. Some pictures of our road trip to share. Have a good week, healthy and peaceful.
