We went today to a place I wanted to go since we moved to Wisconsin and it took me almost 4 and a half years to finally get in the car and go. It is called Deer Park Buddhist Center and it is located in Oregon, WI.
It's a small place, surrounded by gardens, very peaceful, very quiet. There was a beautiful summer light and a very pleasant breeze. The very moment you get there you feel easy and that's the beauty of the place, I think. We parked our car and started walking towards the main building where we assumed the temple was. As we were walking, our 6 years old without saying a word sat down on the ground, in front of the temple, looked around for a few minutes, stood up and kept walking. That moved me deeply. I have wondered the whole day why he did that, what he felt, I'm curious about what kind of experience he had around all that peace. We didn't spend there more than 1 hour but it was a sweet hour.
I would like to share some photos and if you are close by the area go visit, it is totally worth it.
