Welcome to Mad City

House by: Frank Lloyd Wright, Madison-WI Mendota Lake, Madison-WI Mendota Lake, Madison-WI Madison-WI House by: Frank Lloyd Wright, Madison-WI We are learning how to love our new city. Madison is our new home since March this year and we have been falling in love with it little by little. Since the very first day we got here, Madison felt right, the decision of coming here felt right, even though it was so cold that March 4th, Madison welcomed my family and myself with very warm arms and a big snowy smile. We like it here, it has lots of character, nice, mellow people, a wonderful university with great, old campus buildings, great lakes, tons of things to do with the kids, a charming and very urban little downtown, lots of parks for D and a good -affordable- life style. We like Madison, not thinking a lot about the winter 'cause I don't want to get scared quite yet, but so far, so VERY good. p.s. cute nickname: mad city

meet me @ the fair

Fairs are not my favorite places to go and spend a Saturday morning, they seem boring to me most of the time, but you know, when you have kids you really need to check that -calendar of events- and have a plan for the weekend, otherwise those poor little kiddos don't get to go anywhere. Well this morning Aude convinced me to go to the fair, and we went -against my convictions- and we had so much fun, Mr. D looooooooved the animals, especially the pickies (his word for piglets), the weather was good to us, it was not crowded and here I share some pictures of our morning. It was fun and not boring as I thought it was going to be.

I looooove CAFE

I actually love coffee that much that at night before I go to bed I get this very weird feeling of happiness just because morning is 6 or 7 hours away and I'll be sipping a delicious, humungous cup of coffee as soon as I put a foot on the floor, well the first one of the day, not the only one. How can I explain my love for coffee? I can't, it is big, it is an addiction, a delicious addiction I'm not planning to leave any time soon. Coffee to me is also a ritual, the preparation, the smell, the pouring, the slowly drinking while reading a good magazine, the paper or just looking through the window wishing for a great day. The second or third cup of coffee have a different meaning to me. They are more about flavor and cravings, afternoon cravings for instance like dunking a delish cookie in my coffee or a fresh, just made piece of pound cake. I could live on a diet with just coffee and chocolate, OH CHOCOLATE, that's another post. Enjoy these article and amazing picture

Wait a second

I just realized that I have a blog named: Things I Like and there's not even ONE post about coffee and chocolate. Am I crazy? Is there anything out there that I like more than coffee and chocolate? well, there is: my son Diego and my husband Aude.

My date with Mr. D

It was 5pm and we were killing time to pick up papa around 6, then Mr. D said: "mama the horsies" so we decided we wanted to have a late-afternoon-date, just mama & baby boy. So we went to this fantastic deli called: Ellas Deli and Ice Cream Parlor http://www.ellasdeli.com/ and had the greatest time, ate some delish stuff, took some fun pictures and ran to papas to let him know about our big afternoon.

Home is where your heart is

I would love to share with you all the things that lately have been inspiring me, but it is not easy for me to sit down these days and write something. Maybe because I am a -stay home mother- I've been feeling lately this strong need of doing things, create new things, work on something, share ideas. Well, interior design is for sure one of the things I enjoy the most and not because I am an expert, not even close, but just because I get this burst of energy and hapiness when looking at pictures and read about designing spaces. I said this before in another post, if I could go to school again I would love to study interior design and make a living out of it. Probably taking pictures and designing spaces go in first place in that list of mine of all the things I like the most. Since this little blog is about all the things I like, then here some pictures I'm going to share of all the places my husband and I (and now our son Diego) have lived in the last decade. p.s.
